Students

While the Soil and Water Conservation Society is primarily a professional organization, there are plenty of opportunities for students to participate! If you are in college and interested in conservation, check out the Student and Early Career Resources site. There are virtual events, student chapters, career guidance, leadership opportunities, and scholarships.

As a SWCS member, students will get access to the Journal of Soil and Water Conservation, a multidisciplinary journal containing articles on the latest conservation research, practices, and policies. You also get lots of networking opportunities, professional development trainings, and resume-building experiences!

"The diversity of content and community is encouraging as a young professional, and there are a lot of opportunities to network and learn from experts." (SWCS)

Professional Development

SWCS has teamed up with MANRRS and the National Association of Conservation Districts to host virtual Student Professional Development Series. Registration is required and the past sessions have been recorded. The next session, Combatting Imposter Syndrome, will be help on January 24, 2024 at 5:00 pm Eastern. These sessions are an excellent opportunity to get insight on what it is like to work in conservation. Contact events@swcs.org with any questions!
